Day 10 - Rain!

Last night we stayed at the nicest hotel on the trip. it was hard to leave ;). But leave we did. 7:30 this morning with cloudy skies, we headed into the most remote parts of the entire trip...I think.

About 30 miles in we were stopped due to construction on the road. We followed a pilot car for several miles, then up the major climb of the day to 8200ft. The descent was awesome and then it started to rain. Light at first and then pretty heavy. Enough rain so that my feet we sloshing in my shoes.

The rain lasted about 30 minutes and over the next 15 minutes almost everything dried out. As we pulled in to lunch it started to rain again. All in all though, we were making great time, so we stayed at lunch a little longer (75 miles).

We only had another 15 to go, but it started to rain again. It was a fun day though and very fast. I was actually the first person in today.

The highlight of the day though was that Mark (my roommate) and I took a taxi into town for dinner to a nice Italian Restaurant. This is virtually unheard of on PacTour. There was also a nice street fair going on tonight.

The forecast is continued showers on and off for the foreseeable future. Even so, I'm excited about the next 2 days - Montrose & Durango.

Rangely, CO to Grand Junction, CO

We had rain in the Rockies last year, almost every day in the afternoon... If you have the right gear, it can actually be fun riding in the rain.
